Traditional logistics programs often place a higher priority on program design than on operational execution. Logistics specialists study a customer's needs, design a program or a system and generally see the project through to implementation. Once implementation begins, they will typically move on to another project, leaving the day-to-day work to generalists or system operators.
The fluid and complex requirements of the energy industry require a distinctly different approach. These requirements defy pre-packaged solutions. The stakes are extremely high as the cost of outages, can far outweigh the cost of transportation. Every shipment, regardless of mode, system or solution can be critical. Experienced logistics specialists are needed to make the right decisions with every shipment - not just at implementation.
Ardmore Logistics addresses this by placing key operational employees in traditional customer service roles. All of our knowledgeable logistics specialists (account coordinators) have prior transportation experience. These account coordinators receive training on industry-specific commodities and are competent to handle shipping requests for 10 lb. boxes or 100,000 lb. transformers. From implementation onward, the experienced customer-assigned account coordinator is the trademark of the Ardmore Logistics approach.
Our role as freight manager centers on purchasing the right transportation at the right price for each shipment. As a non-asset based 3PL, with no compensation of any kind from the carrier base and no fleet of our own to divert our focus, we are well-positioned to deliver transparent, carrier neutral freight transportation arrangement. We believe it's important for our clients to have granular visibility to the granular carrier cost of each shipment, both to better understand the true cost of the freight program, and as part of their overall compliance with Sarbanes Oxley and due dilegence for their rate payers.
